DEATH TO ARMOK
Rain World X Dwarf Fortress AU
Death To Armok is a Rain World AU taking place far after the main game's events that combines the lore of Rain World with the little set-in-stone lore and general vibe of the worlds generated in Dwarf Fortress. It was inspired by the DF mod Rain Fortress, with the designs of the main races being created in order to rationalise the existance of RW related content existing withen the world of DF.
RACES
It has been untold millennia since the time of the Ancients and the age of immortality. Their relics have been dissolved by rust and rot, buried under endless sediment, and ripped out of the earth by the new gods. From this wasteland, new societies emerge, like the cavern-dwelling craftsmen of the southern mountians, or the scholars and scribes on the northeastern mash.
DWARVES
Stout, sturdy, hairy troglodytes that share a common ancestor with the Scarabs. They were the first to start their civilization, having lived in the caverns until they bored a massive tunnel to the serface that became the first of the great mountian halls. They are the most advanced in terms of "conventional" technology, having access to steel and gunpowder, and being able to create basic machinery. They put craftsmanship above all else, with the creators of valuble artifacts being held at high regard.
SLUGCATS
Slimy little feline-rodent hybrids that are fond of scholarly pursuits. Their technology is quite primitive, having not started a sophisticated society until the Dwarves made first contact with them. Their civilization was formed on the back of trade, selling valuble goods like peat and bog iorn in exchange for metal tools. Their natural curiosity has lead many of them down the paths of the historian and the archaeologist, allowing them to learn of the Ancients, the great cycle, and most recently, relics of the new gods holding the secrets of necromancy.
SCARABS
Tall humanoids with insect-esque faces that are the direct descendent of the Scavengers. The majority of them live as nomadic hunter-gatherers, moving with the seasons in order to survive. Those who do decide to live in permanent settlements build their towns and hamlets around desert oases, or live in the densely populated Ámtup Fortress.
GOBLINS
Grey creatures that bear golen eyes and worm-like apendages. Their society is built off the back of raiding, pillaging the settlements of the other races and repurposing the spoils for their own purposes. Those who have witnessed their raids have described them as scouring every possible corner for valubles, and rarely attacking those that stay out of the way of their looting.
ELVES
Tall strangers with an eerie resemblance to the Ancients. They hail the endless jungles bordering the known land, deadicating themselves to warshipping and preserving nature's natural cycles. This, along with elven society looking down upon other races due to being threats to said cycle, has caused them to attain a reputation of being arrogent and overly aggressive to outsiders.
TECHNOLOGY
Mechanical technology is relatively limited withen DTA, with the use of such tech being limited to the famously industrious Dwarves. Dwarves have used their knowlage of physics and mechanics to power things such as forge hammers, water pumps, and siege defences. However the Dwarves are not the only ones who have gained access to advanced forms of technology. With the discovery of necromancy, the Slugcats have begun to experiment with creating machines and mechanisms from flesh. Necromancy has allowed slugcats to create things as simple as blood-powered light fixtures, to things as advanced as long-range communication devices.
